Friday, May 20 from 6 – 8 PM
Magenta Plains is pleased to welcome Natasha Stagg, Joni Murphy and Andrew Durbin for a reading and discussion on Friday, May 20 from 6 – 8 PM. The three authors will each present an excerpt from a recently published or forthcoming piece of writing, which will then be followed by a discussion moderated by Kaitlin Phillips. Working at the intersection of memoir, criticism, poetry and fiction, these writers explore themes of self identity in a culture that increasingly exposes our inner desires through social media and the internet. The discussion will be followed by a reception with refreshments.
NATASHA STAGG's first novel, Surveys, was published by Semiotext(e) this year. She works as an editor for V Magazine.
JONI MURPHY is a writer and artist who has worked in sound, performance, and text. Her first novel, Double Teenage, was published this spring by BookThug.
ANDREW DURBIN is the author of Mature Themes and the forthcoming Blonde Summer, both from Nightboat Books. He writes about art and lives in New York.
KAITLIN PHILLIPS is a writer living in Brooklyn. Her work has appeared in Bookforum, Artforum, New York, Interview, Richardson, Violet, and Wonderland.
